Interesting new paper argues that complex traits have been predominantly shaped by negative (purifying) selection instead of the oft popular (with evolutionary scientists) balancing selection narrative which plays more into adaptionist explanations for individual differences. The author (Brendan Zietsch) argues the genomic data supports a mutation-selection-drift balance explanation more.
