World Government always seems like such a good and logical solution in all of the science fiction stories we've been brought up with.

And, in a perfect world, it would certainly make sense. As a natural process of evolution the Best and the Brightest would rise to the top and, full of altruism and good will towards their fellow Man, develop a system to bring Peace and Prosperity to everyone throughout the entire world!

In reality though, it is probably more likely that a Global Elite will manipulate social, political and economic forces to bring about a worldwide totalitarian government for their own benefit and at the expense of everyone else.

Hopefully, I'm wrong about this.

However, in the words of my dear, departed mother, when I tried to tell her about all of these ‘Conspiracy Theories’ that I believed in years ago:
