SEEING GOD

When people say that they have 'seen God', (as I myself have said many times), I think that very rarely is the physical sense of sight involved, (although, in some cases, perhaps, in one form or another…)

The sense of sight is however, the most immediate and clearest of our senses and, as the saying goes, 'Seeing is believing'.

Beyond that though, our Soul has its own senses and 'sees' things in its own way and even in those rare cases where the sense of sight is involved, there is also an interior experience that confirms that what they are 'seeing' is indeed a manifestation of God.

It is probably more accurate to say that there is a Living God who exists entirely independently of us and anything that we think we know about God, who, at times, shares His consciousness with us in an intimate and mystical manner.

It's as if our own mind is like a ‘bubble’ which contains all of our own, personal thoughts, feelings and intentions, and suddenly, there is this MUCH LARGER BUBBLE that merges with ours and shares with us it's Thinking Feeling and Willing.

This MUCH LARGER BUBBLE, may share with us a great deal of information, Knowledge, Wisdom and Power, that we have had absolutely no idea about beforehand.

Things that we have never heard or read or even thought about or ever considered before - Things about God Himself, things about the world, it's history and interrelationships…

We may see the ways in which humanity has been going down the wrong road and how God, in His Divine Providence for us, continually tries to bring us back. And, very often, things about ourselves that we didn't know beforehand; how the consequences of the fall of Man have impacted our own lives from the moment of our conception up until the present moment, etc.

At the same time, these 'thoughts' may be accompanied by feelings of being loved, of overwhelming love, of Joy, Bliss, Peace of mind, utter contentment, complete fulfillment, etc.

And a Will towards Good that upholds and empowers us.

An experience like this goes a long way towards convincing those who have it that God exists for sure as a Living and entirely independent Being who has nothing but Good in mind for us and an incredible and almost unimaginable future life prepared for us that He wants nothing more than to bring us into.

And the really strange thing about this whole experience is that, first of all, being merged with this REALLY BIG MIND does not overwhelm or obliterate our own, unique individual sense of self in the least, but rather upholds and fulfills it in a completely satisfying manner, and secondly, although it may be an entirely new and unexpected experience that we have never had before, it doesn't feel that way. In fact, it feels completely natural and familiar, as if it was something we had always known and had forgotten somehow, only to suddenly have remembered it!

An experience like this can take us in one instance, in the twinkling of an eye, from being an ‘Atheist’ or an ‘Agnostic’ into being a ‘Gnostic’, (in the true sense of the word), and an Evangelist because, having had such an experience, even once, A STRONG DESIRE IS BORN IN THE HEART TO EXTEND THE MESSAGE TO ALL PEOPLE…

We were created in the Image and after the Likeness of God, to be ‘like' God, and nothing less will ever truly satisfy us.

The Living God wants nothing more than to restore us entirely to our Original Blessed State and to raise us up from there, from Glory to Glory, into where He would have raised our first created parents Adam and Eve, had they not fallen.

He does this by sharing Himself with each of us, personally, in the most intimate manner imaginable, from within each of us.

The Kingdom of Heaven is within us and we are meant to be partakers of the Divine Nature in ways that we can hardly even imagine.

"And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:

Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you."

(Luke 17:20-21)
