The modern Rock Hall, from what I can tell, has no ethos. Their only discernible philosophy regarding “who deserves to get in” is a patchwork quilt that’s 40 percent “this music was popular once,” 40 percent “this artist was nice to me when we stood next to each other in a Grammy party buffet line 30 years ago,” and 20 percent reacting to people who have yelled at them recently. (I am leaning hard on that 20 percent here.)
