On April 13, somewhere in Memphis perhaps, Al Green will celebrate his 80th birthday. My intention with this series is to send the man some love and happiness as he reaches this milestone. He deserves it, especially at this moment in time. Al Green is a private man, and his current health status is unclear. But we do know that as of 2025, he was diagnosed with colon cancer and scheduled to undergo chemotherapy. As his birthday approaches, I think we should all send our well wishes out to this man. Al Green has, after all, put a lot of joy out into the world. He’s also put a lot of people into the world.
