There is interesting discourse on Twitter but the signal to noise ratio is very high.😅 It's definitely something of a learning curve to extract *any* value from Twitter. And I still don't use it very often.
I think the big issue with social media is the echo chambers it creates. You "follow" people who think the same way you do, the algorithm feeds you posts most similar to those you've "Liked" before, the whole system is designed to funnel you into an ever narrower mind. And naturally, this doesn't stay limited to Twitter. People take these narrow minds out into the real world and make decisions based on the narrow thoughts they produce.
I was just saying to somebody else, this place has largely been an experiment in what would happen if people were allowed right from the start to speak freely and openly about "controversial issues" and I couldn't be happier with how it's going. So please know that I'm grateful to you for your thoughts and insights. You all make this place what it is.
