This is essentially why I’m on Substack. I love my partner and friends, but they don’t share my intellectual interests. I’ve been musing over how to find IRL people who do. Like, who wants to be in a Wittgenstein discussion club with me? Who wants to talk about what creativity is? No one I know! The other issue is needing a babysitter to go anywhere physically, whereas I can discourse on Substack at home with my kids around (to a point).

Sometimes you read a great book and want to call a friend and talk their ear off, but then you remember none of your friends have read Salinger and you’re grateful that Substack exists so that you can find communion in pieces like these.

Great piece on Salinger’s work – The catcher in the rye, but also Nine stories and The Glass Family stories.
