Kontoula Lemonia" (Short Lemon Tree) is a traditional, romantic folk song from Epirus, specifically the Pogoni province, referencing the villages of Vissani and Delvinaki. Musically, it utilizes the distinctive Epirotic pentatonic scale and is traditionally danced as sta tria (in three steps).

​The "lemon tree" symbolizes a young girl who suddenly blossomed into womanhood. The lovesick singer begs her to lower her branches so he can pick a lemon (representing her love or a kiss). This "juice" is the only cure for his heartache, making actual doctors unnecessary.
