In the moment challenge submission.

I took this picture last summer, apologies for not being a current pic, when I worked as a staff photographer for a well known wave pool in the UK.

The ocean and coastal areas have long been my subject of interest with surfing being one of the primary lenses through which I look at wider issues going on in the world.

I felt very lucky to gain employment doing what I love in an environment that fostered growth and fun.

For those of you who don’t know, a wave pool is a place that creates perfect rideable waves for surfers. A mechanical process pushes waves out of a machine and into a triangular shaped pool.

This picture was taken of a friend surfing in the pool. As often, when photographing surf, I shoot with a lazy shutter. Water in motion is what a slow shutter is perfect for and in this instance it blurs the foreground. Creating motion, showing the journey of the surfer along the wave.
