I keep reading that no one should kiss baby which I know will get big eye rolls from the grandparents. If they’re already breathing on baby, is kissing baby really a lot of additional risk?
At the risk of being jumped on: there are some differences. There are some illnesses which are spread well in saliva and mucus but do not spread in an airborne way. So, actually, kissing and breathing are not the same.
These risks are all pretty small. The most important thing you can do with visitors is to not let them visit if they are sick and make them wash their hands.
