Redwoods and steelhead fishing. A great place to be. I live inland by the Quabbin Reservoir that quenches the thirst of Boston and multiple other towns about 75 miles away in eastern MA. So I have an ‘accidental wilderness’ nearby.

Hi, Sue, I’m in Humboldt County about 15 mi inland, along Hwy 299—in a valley that that the Mad river runs from inland to the sea. My wee town pop approx 1200, Blue Lake (lol, there’s no lake!), has a motto “sunshine and sea air”. Coast gets WAY more fog, but it tends to creep inland during the evenings, thus obscuring the stars at night…
