The second screen thing

I think I know why heated rivalry is ruining me for any other content. I can’t watch HR and do anything else. I can’t take my eyes off it.

I flippantly posted this New Year’s Day morning “happy heated rivalry rewatch day.”

I thought I was gonna just start from the beginning and watch it again or something but I didn’t even turn it on until 6 PM. And I realized why this is not a show I can turn on and have it play without my full attention. Which until heated rivalry completely changed my life was my way of being with the media I stream.

I’ve read about the second screen thing, and how scripts are being written now to appeal to the audience that’s not paying attention with their eyes The stories are written so that the exposition has spoken and you don’t really have to pay attention much. You’ve noticed that too, right? Well heated rivalry ain’t that. If I don’t watch, I miss plot development, and if I don’t watch, I miss the excellent cutting and lighting and acting…

I’m gonna put my phone down and watch a bit more of episode four with my full attention.
