If I had the budget, I’d run a Book Supplement column every week. I love deciding which books to cover, assigning reviews, and reading and reviewing some books myself. I don’t expect it to ever be “profitable,” but so far it’s not even sustainable, as in, there are not yet enough paid subscribers to keep it going. But I know these things take time, and I will persist as long as I can. These reviews are reaching tens of thousands of Substack readers, who are known to be book buyers, and—I hope—making at least a small difference for the books themselves.
