The figure drawing classroom always felt like a meditative space, an equalizing space. I know that a lot of people, most of them non-artists, see drawing from live nude models as erotic or glamorous. Their focus is on the “live” and the “nude.” Draw me like one of your French girls, people joke, and I laugh too. But for us life models, and especially while in college, it was more utilitarian and cooperative than anything else.
