For my first official post for Supervised I did some light analysis of a few hundred open job roles in AI. It seems we’re headed toward a “data science” moment where companies can’t agree on the where the responsibilities fall, much less if it falls under a single title.

But the closest coverage it seems is going to be under machine learning engineer—though unclear if that title will inevitably win out for it. MLE spun out of data science to represent more production-grade work in machine learning models while data science and analyst were sometimes used interchangeably.
