City Councilmember Chad Williams makes a dangerous argument in this clip that could probably be used to justify commercial exploitation of any park in the city.
Based on cellphone geolocation data which I am going to submit a CPRA request for, Chad says that only about one half of one percent of the HB population ever sets foot on the Symphony of Flowers location during the six-month timeframe of the event, therefore it doesn't significantly impact the public if we kick them out.
Well, that puts vast swaths of the passive use areas of the park at risk, because it seems likely that visitor counts in all passive use areas will be a similarly small slice of the city population.
Let this event be a warning -- they're coming for our parks.
