In a federal civil rights lawsuit filed against the city by plaintiff Ashley Bauer-Oldfield, she alleges that an HBPD officer responding to her call for service subsequently engaged in sexual harassment of her under color of authority.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The initial complaint erroneously named the wrong officer, an error that subsequent filings correct. However, the officer is still attached to the case as a party, albeit "terminated" and so potential for confusion exists. See the first amended complaint for the correct defendant officer name.

After she filed a formal complaint to HBPD about the harassment, an investigation occurred and HBPD deemed the complaint to be "sustained", meaning that the sexual harassment really did happen.

However, it gets worse. After the complaint was sustained, she filed a financial claim against the city, which she alleges triggered repeated harassment by multiple HBPD officers against her and her friends.

The city was only served with this lawsuit a few weeks ago, and so we don't yet have the city's side of the story. The plaintiff is asking for at least $3,000,000.
