Tom, I applaud a headline that says “videos contradict … “ instead of “appear to contradict.”I don’t see it as partisan or crossing the line. I see it as truth. I think The Times should be (and probably is) asking itself how to stay true to our ethics and standards and evolve our journalism in this forever-changed world. I think Lydia Polgreen’s recent column could have run on Page One, labeled as opinion, of course. I think we could run short Profiles of Grief type pieces on those who have been lost or disappeared. The time is out of joint. Journalism of the kind you and I are imagining can put it right.
