One Good Thing #44/365

When I walked into the house from taking my kids to the bus stop, I realized my son had forgotten his instrument for band practice.
Immediately I brushed my teeth, grabbed my purse and the instrument, put on shoes and ran out the door. I drove to school and put the instrument on top of his locker without disrupting any classes.
🤔At some point during the running around at home, I wondered "Should I be doing this?" I didn't want to punish my son or contribute to him feeling upset with himself, but I also knew natural consequences can be a powerful learning tool for long term growth.
Just as quickly I remembered how good he usually is about remembering library books, practicing for presentations, and his instrument without reminders. I also know that when we return to the U.S. and I have to return to work, I won't likely be able to take things to school if he forgets. Even now, if I'd had a dentist appointment or other engagement, I couldn't have bailed him out.
💡In that moment, I could help him and I wanted to. I'm glad I did it.
The rainbow I saw when I returned home seemed perfect.
