Honey Lee Cottrell took this portrait of Ruth Bernhardt at the Vaillancourt Fountain in San Francisco, late 70s.
Honey was Ruth’s photographic printer in those days, as Ruth’s work was finally getting its due and she needed museum-ready prints.
I can’t tell you how many beautiful shoots we organized around the Vaillancourt, it is an artists’ treasure. The news that “the city of SF” is considering tearing it down is tearing ME down! I’m sure if Ruth and Honey were alive today they would be at City Hall, protesting such insanity.
