I really loved Small Prophets, a slow burn, cosy comedy from Mackenzie Crook that takes it time to unfold into a lovely story about friendship and how tough it can be to cope after tragedy.
It makes me a bit sad that these comedies are so rare, and really only get made when there’s a hefty name behind them. Surely there’s room in the comedy world for a bit more variety? I think there is, and I think script competitions are not the way to achieve it.
