I don’t think it’s a forgone conclusion that an LLM *is* something that has its own integrity, that it is an integral thing, or that it would be appropriate to evaluate its output respectfully. It *may* be the case that it is a violation of the nature of all poesis to consider that an LLM might engage in poesis in a way that should be honored. I am not convinced of that, but I think it’s at least possible that God simply does not accept AI work as good work of ours— that AI work cannot honor him— and that, as we cannot create immaterial noetic selves using techne — only God can, immediately— there are no selves behind the AI outputs.
