🥊 Boxing prediction time 🥊

Get YOUR picks in ahead of the weekend’s boxing action. Who is going to win by brutal KO? Could there be an upset on the horizon for one of the big boys? Let me know in the comments.

Tyson Fury Wins Pts 12 Arslanbek Makhmudov: London, live on Netflix

Returning for a quick scrap between retirements, Fury welcomes Makhmudov to London. Tickets aren’t selling too well, apparently. Are people fed up with the Fury shtick now? Possibly.

His return comes just after old rivals Wilder and Chisora rumbled last weekend. Perhaps the elusive AJ fight could be on the cards as and when Tyson gets past this first test. I’m expecting a fast start as usual from Makhmudov, followed by 12 messy rounds of heavy-breathing from both.

Conor Benn Wins TKO 10 Regis Prograis, Tottenham Stadium undercard

There is plenty of heavyweight action on the Fury undercard, plus a heavyweight surname in the form of Conor Benn, who has won the boxing lottery following a failed drugs test, spent sunning himself in Mallorca, and had two fights with Chris Eubank Jr.

After ditching his old promoter and loan shark, Eddie Hearn, young Benn is getting paid an obscene amount of money from Zuffa to fight a version of Regis Prograis that is struggling to stand up straight.

Juan Francisco Estrada Wins Pts 12 Tenshin Nasukawa: Tokyo

A quality WBC bantamweight final eliminator featuring fast-rising Tenshin, who once boxed Floyd Mayweather in an exhibition and was last seen suffering his first career loss, to Naoya Inoue’s brother.

Facing him is the increasingly inactive Estrada, a former unified world champion with two wins over Roman Gonzalez. Estrada has only had one comeback fight since getting stopped in brutal fashion by Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez in 2024.

Vito Mielnicki Jr. Wins TKO 8 Omar Ulises Huerta: Atlantic City, live on Pro Box TV

Well-supported Mielnicki Jr. is maturing into a very competent fighter, despite a few minor hiccups early on. Unsurprisingly, considering he turned pro so young.

I don’t know much about unbeaten opponent Huerta, whose record looks shiny, but he’s fought no one decent and drew with an 8-9 guy last time out.

Brandon Adams Wins TKO 11 Caoimhin Agyarko: Las Vegas, live on Triller TV

This is going to be a tough evening for Agyarko, whom I’ve seen box a lot around Belfast. Adams is an experienced campaigner at fringe world level, has some very good wins (twice beating Serhii Bohachuk) and knows how to do the distance. I make him a solid favourite in this IBF super-welterweight title eliminator.

Thanongsak Simsri Wins TKO 12 Sergio Mendoza: Tokyo

Defending his IBF light-flyweight title, Simsri is heavy-handed for the lower weights and boasts plenty of world title experience. Mexican Mendoza can also bang and will fancy an upset in his first fight outside of Mexico.

Later this evening (Thursday, April 9)…

Osleys Iglesias Wins KO 6 Pavel Silyagin: Montreal, live on DAZN

A battle of unbeatens for the vacant IBF super-middleweight title. This pick won’t age well given the time of publishing, but it’s hard to look past Cuban Iglesias, who is a furious finisher of fights. I pick him by KO within the first portion of the fight.
