Relying on a single "leader" node to manage cluster state creates a bottleneck and a single point of failure. If the leader goes down, the whole cluster becomes "brainless." A Gossip Protocol allows nodes to share information with a few random peers, much like a rumor spreading. This decentralized approach is highly resilient and allows cluster state to sync rapidly without a central authority.
