In order to win Bill Clinton moved the party to the right. At the same time the tech world was exploding and their money flooded the stock market and lobbyists. The rise of wall street democrats occurred and as the years have gone by they became wealthier and further away from the working class.
Backed by the ‘liberal’ wealthy, democrats kept moving further to the right, appeasing the pocket book of their donors. It was a slow move and not noticed by many because the GOP had moved even further to the right.
Now the DNC keeps talking about going back to the ‘center’. That center they want is the same as what occurred in the 90s. Beholden to the corporations.
What Bernie and AOC are proposing is not radical left - it is what countries like Canada, Mexico, and most European countries already provide their citizens; national healthcare, protection for workers, free education, etc.
The centralist democrats want to make people think these ideas are impossible or radical. Just look at how they are attacking Mamdani in NY. They are NOT impossible but if they can convince the majority of democrats it is they will continue to slide along protecting their donors and their own pocket books by never supporting the change that needs to happen.
This is why the DNC has pushed out so many younger leaders. Many of the democrats in office now are my in generation (72). They all need to step down otherwise we should primary every single one and expose their links to corporate money.
How do I know this information - I lived it and watched the working class families (I am one of them) lose more and more each year in order for the CEOS and board members to walk away with the earnings that should have gone to the workers.
