40,000,000 Foreign Visitors!?

According to the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), the number of foreign visitors to Japan in November 2025 (estimated) reached 3.518 million, a 10.4% increase from the previous year. The cumulative total from January to November rose 17% to 39.0656 million. This already surpassed the previous annual record of 36.87 million set in 2024 by over 2 million by November alone, setting a new yearly record. It is now confident that the annual number of visitors in 2025 will exceed 40 million.

While the rapid increase in foreign visitors is likely to keep "crowding" as a persistent issue in 2026, achieving balanced visitor distribution across the country is expected to become a significant theme.
