The app for independent voices

Just came back from a screening of “baddDDD Sonia Sanchez” documentary and loved it! Can’t believe I’d never seen it before.

Back in the 90’s I took a Black Women’s Studies class with Dr. Laura Head at SF State and I remember we delved into so many greats.

Audre Lorde

Sonia Sanchez

Toni Cade Bambara

Alice Walker

And more.

I remember being totally captivated by the brilliance I never learned about in high school.

You know life became so stressful that I forgot who I was and how much I loved reading Black Women’s work. I spent years in and out of Marcus Books in SF soaking up Black Genius. I remember spending months reading all of Octavia Butler’s books, I just couldn’t stop.

I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to see the Sonia Sanchez Doc cause it was just the reminder I needed to jump back in.

If you haven’t seen her documentary, check it out.

Blessings!
