Years ago I took a Black Women’s Studies class and I learned about Georgia Douglas Johnson. She became my favorite poet and I absolutely fell in love with the Harlem Renaissance.

I memorized Johnson’s poem “Your World” in my 20’s and it’s stayed with me since. I repeat it often for comfort.
