Make money doing the work you believe in

As always, a fantastic discussion worth a listen. I do agree, we’ve entered the “show me” phase.

I’ve held my judgement on Mark Carney’s environmental meets development meets social justice credentials. And I’ll continue a while longer. But. If we are going to be an “energy superpower” and we’re going to “build baby build” and we’re going to “build projects of national interest”, then why the heck isn’t he running to build out off-shore wind. Houston has proposed it. It’s been de-risked in other parts of the world. Our continental shelf is HUGE and custom made for it. And it would be a worthwhile step toward our climate goals and in making the East Coast a greater-contributor to Canada. It should be a project Carney is racing to put some money behind. Forget a private proponent, Canadians should own it. … I’ll admit this one baffles me.

I also have a bit of a bone to pick with the Alto rail project. While I think it is necessary, and while I think some people are going to lose family homes, etc., why the heck are we throwing those affected to the wolves?? We need farmers. We may need their current land but re-settling them into another farm - and there are tons of farms that are facing oblivion because no one wants to work them - should be priority #1. Priority #2 should be guaranteeing everyone is settled into an equal or better home. This is not the time for laissez-faire.
