This is such ridiculous and out of touch framing. As I wrote in my book, legacy journalists are obsessed with acting like there’s some clear dividing line between “real journalists” and influencers/content creators. It’s elitist and delusional framing that simply doesn’t exist. And to write a line like this this week especially, only shows this writer’s deep ignorance of Substack as a platform. Hard hitting journalism is thriving on Substack! Look at what Ken Klippenstein has been producing just in the past week, or Chris Geidner and Erin Reed the week before on the Supreme Court decision.
