My boyfriend isn’t a writer and I don’t often talk through what I’m working with him other than “it’s a piece about X” or “I learned Y” today. (That’s the beauty of having writing friends!)

But I’m very glad that at some point I taught him about the “creative nonfiction writers be like” tweet of yore so I could explain that I’m stuck on a section, saying, “I could Steven Hotdog it but don’t want to” and he knew exactly what that meant.
