We’ve officially taken all three grandparents to afternoon tea at The Grand Hotel in Brighton. Does that make it a family tradition?

We first went with my mom on Christmas Eve and were delighted with the Christmas crackers and delicious turkey and cranberry sandwich. Colin’s mom came next and fully understood the hype once she tasted the much raved about scones.

And then there was my dad, who scoffed when we brought up afternoon tea. Dainty tea cups and tiny sandwiches? Not for him he thought.

But of course, he was quickly converted. A few bites of sausage roll, mini cheesecake and banana chocolate cake and he was sold. Afternoon tea wins every time!
