why are you publishing your fiction on Substack?

honestly i don’t read any on here, because the ergonomics are awful. There’s no way to find a specific chapter, no pagination (i hate scrolling for fiction), no way to mark my place to come back later, navigation is awful, paragraphs width is too wide and can’t be changed, it’s nearly impossible to download to kindle, …

why not instead publish on platforms that are made for it? i don’t really read novels on the internet, but the way to convince me to is to put it on something like ao3 in terms of user flows, not here on substack
