Pet Sounds just got certified as double platinum a few days before its 60th anniversary.

Capitol Records (which griped that the album was disappointing back in 1966) honored the surviving band members Mike Love, Al Jardine and Bruce Johnston in a ceremony at the label’s Hollywood tower.

I wish Brian and the other Wilson brothers were alive to enjoy the occasion. We all grew up in the same neighborhood, and in Hawthorne, California the success of homegrown talent is celebrated by all of us. (Other Hawthorne musicians of note include Emitt Rhodes, Chris Montez, Darlene Love, Zoot Sims, and Tyler the Creator.)
