Sociologically, there is something so interesting about the fury re: lack of religious specificity in Yesteryear. People want a book that reflects either the lived experiences of Mormons, Evangelicals, Quiverfuls, Baptists, and Catholics, or for it to be a deeply researched screed with Bible verses woven into the text. The general consensus from nonreligious people is that… we didn’t care or notice at all, but this being SUCH a sticking point for SO many people is soooooo American.
