Overheard at a grocery store checkout in Roseville MN this morning.

customer: I have $82 left on my SNAP benefits, can you charge that first.

clerk: your remaining balance is $52.18

customer pays

clerk: thank you for your donation to Harvest Food Bank.

customer: I figure there are a lot of people out there, especially now, who are far worse off than me. I may not have much, but it’s something that will help someone else.

clerk: we put together these nice little bags for the food shelf, and I want you to know that your donation really matters.

It is so common that those who have the least are the ones who often donate with the biggest hearts.

Everyone in Minnesota is stepping up in whatever ways they can.
