Make money doing the work you believe in

My word for 2026 is visibility.

And goodness, am I realizing I don’t understand how to make myself visible or feel seen.

Even though I have all this experience in marketing, it really does feel like shouting out into the void every. single. time.

I used to systematically use vulnerability as performative authenticity to perform the act of being seen.

Then I learned that not everyone could honor my vulnerability. And I also realized that being open all the time wasn’t authentic to me, either.

So how, as a writer, content creator, and educator do I willfully create that feeling?

Because (hot take) the reward for me is actually not the act of creating, but to reach others, to be a contagion of inspiration and insight, to cause little hurricanes in the minds and hearts of others to support a social movement that I believe is our best shot at steering out of this societal nosedive that we’re in.

To do that, my work must be seen.

Feeling seen.

It’s been an elusive feeling, like catching a grasshopper. When I force it, it doesn’t happen. When I open my door, there’s a grasshopper waiting for me to scoop it up.

I’m dying to hear your own feelings on this.

Because from my experience, the things we think we’re alone on, is actually what weaves us together.
