I'll be honest: FACES OF DEATH 2026 really caught my attention.

While I was away from Substack, I rewatched the trailers and read the reviews, and my desire only grew. It's a modern reimagining of that iconic shockumentary, but now with a deeply meta twist: a female moderator stumbles upon a series of videos that perfectly replicate the death scenes from the original 1978 film. What's staged? What's real? Is it even possible to tell the difference in our world?

Director Daniel Goldhaber (the director of the excellent "Cam"), along with Isa Mazzei, once again explore themes of online reality, trust in images, and how we consume violence. The cast is stellar: Barbie Ferreira in the title role, Dacre Montgomery (with some very ominous footage), Josie Totah, Jermaine Fowler, Aaron Holliday, and a cameo/role from Charli XCX.

What I missed during my absence:

- New red-band trailer (even more brutal than the last one)

- New stills and posters from Bloody Disgusting

- The film is already among the top-rated horror films of April on Letterboxd

April 10th – in theaters (wide release from IFC and Shudder).

Friends and everyone who comes to me for horror recommendations: I highly recommend waiting and seeing it. This will be one of those films that people talk about for a long time. Ready to "see the faces of death"? I am. šŸ”„

Who's already excited? Let me know in the comments!
