As practice for using Substack, I posted an article that I had published on note. This is the first installment of the first series.

I had intended to write in the polite 'desu/masu' style, but at that time, I had only ever written in the plain 'dearu/da' style. My writing style is wavering.

The photo, I believe, is of a croquette from Yoshoku Kimura in Yokohama. It's a delicious dish born from the encounter between Western modernity and Japanese people.
