I've had a checkered career path.
2015: graduated with an English degree
2016: became a teacher
2017: became a dean of students
2019: left education for B2B sales
2019: hated it. took a pay cut to become an operations analyst
2021: got promoted to operations supervisor
2022 and onward:
- landed my first data job
- began creating content
- several BI roles with increasing complexity
- began consulting
2026 and beyond: I'm still in data and still loving it, but I try not to think too far ahead. If life has taught me one thing, it's that it is unpredictable.
While a very linear career would have been nice, I'm grateful for the windy road I've had. I've learned so much through all the different types of work I've done. This doesn't even include all the part-time jobs I've had from 2008-2015!
Don't be afraid to try new things and enjoy the ride!
ps - enjoy this photo of me and my wife from 2016 back when we were still dating!
