Students use AI to cheat because they’ve been told all their lives that grades are the only thing separating them from a successful professional career,and because the opportunity cost of learning is scrolling tiktok or whatever, which they were born into, never asked for, and now can’t escape.

Teachers use AI to grade students because they're overwhelmed in a thankless job, held constantly accountable by parents and society, yet shown none of the gratitude they deserve for being the last line of resistance against the deterioration of education.
