The Algorithmic Bridge
Are enterprises getting productivity gains from AI? What does the data say? This is what it says:
A WRITER survey of 2,400 executives and employees published last week found that 48% of executives call AI adoption “a massive disappointment,” up from 34% a year ago. Three-quarters admit their company’s AI strategy is “more for show” than actual internal guidance. Pertama Partners reports that more than 80% of enterprise AI projects fail to deliver their intended value. McKinsey says that 80%+ find no tangible EBIT impact from gen AI. PwC’s 2026 Global CEO Survey found that most CEOs “struggle to turn AI investment into tangible returns”; only 12% say that “AI has delivered both cost and revenue benefits.” The WRITER survey also found that twenty-nine percent of employees admit to sabotaging their company’s AI strategy; among Gen Z, it’s 44%. Deloitte’s 2026 report found that governance readiness and talent readiness both decreased from last year: organizations are today less prepared for their own AI ambitions
