Anime Review: Why Talentless Nana is a Hidden Gem

I recently finished this 2020 series on a recommendation from my girlfriend—and once again, she was spot on. In my opinion, Talentless Nana is a seriously underrated masterpiece.

If you enjoy the high-stakes mind games of Death Note or the "mutant" dynamics of X-Men, this is a must-watch. The story is set in a world where some people have begun developing supernatural abilities, leading to a deep-seated conflict between "Talented" individuals and normal humans.

Following a devastating war, a special academy is established on a remote island to train these superhumans for the "greater good." But the premise quickly shifts: the students realize they are trapped on the island with a cold-blooded killer who won't stop until every one of them is dead. It’s a tense, psychological anime that keeps you guessing on how it will end.

What makes it unique is that you actually follow the killer, not the victims. You know exactly who the murderer is and the motives behind the killings. The show dives deep into psychological topics like brainwashing and manipulation, which kept me hooked the whole time.
