Do you prefer to buy software outright, or pay a monthly subscription?

I personally love monthly subscriptions: Microsoft 365, Xero, Tidal, Kindle Unlimited, Readly, Proton Unlimited, I love them all. They bring us solutions that previously would have been completely unaffordable under the outright purchase model.
