JJ Quinn got me thinking about the MLB Draft and high-school players. The big takeaway: college players are more cost-efficient at every level.
College picks cost $9M less per 7-fWAR player than HS picks. And the most extreme steals in the dataset are almost all late-round college bats: Pete Alonso ($909K, 20.8 fWAR), Bryan Reynolds ($1.35M, 18.6 fWAR), Will Smith ($1.77M, 27 fWAR), Ryan Jeffers ($800K, 8.3 fWAR), Andrew Abbott ($1.3M, 7.1 fWAR).
