A thought from the Venice Biennale. It is extraordinary to me that, despite the inclusion of huge numbers of artists from historically overlooked countries, and the anti/decolonial curatorial narratives that guide so much of the thinking, the majority of texts - on walls or websites or as subtitles in videos - are in English.
I don’t think this is a small or insignificant point. And it has been true for years and years.
