This is what I do— ask what makes a book interesting and try to give the reader a sense of what it’s like, even if I didn’t love it. But usually, since I am earning something like 45 cents an hour with my newsletter, I will not bother to write about a book I do not think is worth your time— whether you end up loving it or not.
