A remarkable rescue took place in New Zealand when a dolphin named Moko helped save a stranded mother pygmy sperm whale and her calf. According to The Independent, the whales had become trapped by a series of sandbanks at Mahia Beach in 2008 and were unable to find their way back to the ocean despite repeated attempts.

Rescuers tried to guide the whales but struggled to lead them through the narrow channel. According to Wikipedia, Moko arrived, interacted with the distressed whales, and then guided them about 200 yards along the shoreline before leading them safely through a channel into deeper water.

The event captured global attention as an extraordinary example of interspecies cooperation. According to BBC News, Moko became a local celebrity remembered not only for his playful interactions with humans but also for this incredible act of compassion that saved two whales from certain death.
