China has deployed more than 100 naval and coast guard vessels across East Asian waters in what officials describe as its largest maritime show of force to date.

• The ships are spread from the southern Yellow Sea through the East China Sea into the contested South China Sea and the wider Pacific, with activities including mock attacks on foreign vessels and drills to block outside reinforcements in a conflict.

• Regional governments, including Taiwan and Japan, are closely tracking the deployment, which some officials call “unprecedented” and politically linked to tensions over Taiwan, though many still assess it as part of intensive but routine seasonal exercises rather than an immediate war risk.
