“Whatever state of being one remembers when he quits his body, that state he will attain without fail.”

(Bhagavad Gita 8.6, 5th- 2nd century BCE)

The consciousness you carry into death is the same consciousness you’ve cultivated in life.

Many spiritual traditions hold tight to this belief, and I feel fortunate and grateful to have experienced it firsthand already.

I’m still processing it and am not saying that I had/have achieved enlightenment (of course not), but I do uphold that my quality of mind is one reason I survived a near-death encounter last year.

So, do the work—your death is worth it, too.
